Controlling Dataset

Usually there is one MASTER dataset (known as the controlling dataset) which delivers the basic data unit.

In most reports, this basic unit is the drillhole, in which case the drillhole header table acts as the controlling dataset. This dataset is used to navigate through the data item list, and is used to select the item of interest. For example, the drillhole header dataset would be used to select a drillhole for viewing or printing.

In drawings that deal with sampling details, the controlling dataset would usually be a query (for example, QuerySeams ) that retrieves economic correlation entries. In this case, the primary data item is the seam - not the drillhole.

In the Extended Query Property Editor, the controlling dataset is specified as the Master dataset for one or more Detail datasets. Its relationship to other dataset (Control) is shown in the dataset list.
