Apparent Dip

If a drillhole plunges or dips away from the vertical plane of the drillhole section, then the dip angle observed in the section display is referred to as an 'apparent' dip. The apparent dip angle is a function of the true dip and the angle between the drill section line and the drillhole trace.

The apparent dip angle will always be smaller than the true dip angle.
