Geolinking Windows
You can geolink windows whenever multiple Vizex windows are open. Geolinking synchronises the centres of all windows, so that as you pan a view, or step through a sequence of cross sections, all other windows will match.
Turn on geolinking
- Open and arrange the windows to be geolinked.
- Select View | Vizex | Geolink windows, or Window | Geolink Vizex Windows.
- Pan one of the windows, or step across sections, and inspect the effect on the other windows.
Windows added after you enabled geolinking will not be geolinked.
Turn off geolinking
- Select View | Vizex | Unlink windows, or select Window | Unlink Vizex Windows.
Enable advanced geolinking settings
By default geolinking only synchronises the centres of the windows, not their extents, and zoom changes or rotations will have no effect. However, you can optionally set advanced geolinking options.
- Select Tools | Options | Vizex from the main menu and then select Geolinking from the Vizex Options list.
- Select any of the following options:
- Synchronise view direction: synchronise the camera view direction across all linked windows.
- Synchronise field of view: synchronise the zoom extent across all linked windows.
- Synchronise sections: propagate section window and clipping settings across all linked windows.
- Synchronise overview windows: when an overview window is included in a linked window, choose whether it should also be synchronised.

Whenever two or more windows are linked, they will stay in synch as you draw a new section, use the Next or Previous buttons to browse sections, pan the view from side to side, or make zoom changes. The exact level of synchronisation will depend on the options you have selected.
Reloading a saved Vizex session containing geolinked windows will always apply the current global geolinking settings (controlled via Tools | Options | Vizex > Geolinking). Any settings that were in effect when the session was saved are ignored.
