Docking a window pane

A window pane is a dockable window. When you "dock" a window pane you position it along the edge of another window or pane. To dock a window pane:

  1. Click and hold down the mouse button in the title bar of the pane.
  2. Drag the mouse to move the pane where you want it.
  3. If you move the pane over a tabbed window (or the workspace, if no windows are open), a group of (Left, Right, Top, Bottom) docking guides are displayed:
  4. Docking guides are also provided separately at the left, right, top and bottom edges of the application window. See Step 4 below for details on how to use the docking guides.

If you move the pane over another window pane, you cannot dock the pane to the application window. However, an additional docking guide is provided in the group of docking guides that appear in the destination pane:

    Dock as a tabbed window

  1. As you move the mouse cursor over the docking guides, a silhouette indicates where the pane will be positioned when you release the mouse button:

Dock to the leftDock to the right
    Dock aboveDock below

  2. If you accidentally close a window pane, you can open them again using the options on the Main toolbar or the Window menu.
