Split String

This function lets you split a closed string or an open string into two strings.

Do the following:

Select a string in the display.

Select the Split String button on the Edit Strings toolbar. Alternatively, right-click on the string and select Split Strings from the right-click menu.

The vertices of the selected string will be highlighted.

Using the mouse, select the two vertices that will be used to split the closed string (or select the vertex that will be used to split the open string).

When a partial selection is active, the Split String tool will automatically split the string at the points representing the beginning and end of the selection. In the case of a partial selection on a polygon, the result is two polygons with common (coincident) boundaries.

At least three vertices must remain unselected when splitting a closed string.
