Create a flat section of road

The ability to generate horizontal parts of a road for a specified distance, including the option of having flat road sections between benches, is a technical requirement in many mines.

Click the Flat Section tool on the Pit Design Toolbar. If not already selected, you will be prompted to select a TOE, CREST or CONTOUR line on which a road has been created.

If not already selected, you will be prompted to select the red road point on which to add the flat section.

You can also right-click on a red road point and select Road | Flat Section from the right-click menu.

Set the following parameters in the Road Flat Section form:

Length

Specify the Length of the road section.

Length Specified By

The length is measured from a specified (Inner , Outer , Centre , or Custom ) point on the road, taking into account the road width (which is already defined as part of the properties of the road).

To measure the length from a specific point on the road, select the Custom option and specify a value which is a factor of the road width. Values of 0, 0.5, and 1, for example, are equivalent to selecting Inner, Centre, and Outer.
